Re: Goodman superheat chart versus fromula

I just found an excel file that is supposed to give you target superheat by inserting the numbers. If I recall correctly, it was Hvacrmedic that posted this on Protech. The file is dated back to 2010. I he believe said if it was reused he wanted credit, so credit to Hvacrmedic for this excel file. Y...

Re: Goodman superheat chart versus fromula

I did seminars a while for Johnstone...I'd be talking to 75 people, explaining saturated conditions or boiling point or superheat/subcooling, and see most of the 75 with 'deer-in-the-headlights' expressions on their faces. And a lot of those guys go out every day and charge equipment owners...

Re: Goodman superheat chart versus fromula

That's the formula...maybe they decided to lower the piston system superheat for increased coil loading and a little more refrigeration. :? Who knows? But I suspect it's all about getting the rated efficiency, for the least amount of money. I believe what you say is the reason. Trying to me...

Re: PurCool Condensate Pan Tab Review

I thought I had posted a picture of the yellow 5 gallon bucket that I dropped 2 tablets in back on Jan 19,2017. I must not have. Anyway, The bucket was clean, the weather has been mild, but now everything is blooming and we have highs in the mid 80's. I have not added water to the bucket, so it evap...

Re: Condensate Pan Tabs

Sounds like a plan. I used to see "cakes" used in pans. I think they were supposed to last 6 months? Yes. And they would sit there and make a mess. Some are in a plastic box that has a cloth like membrane on the bottom, all with warnings on them. Maybe this will sanitize the pan, the runo...

Re: Condensate Pan Tabs

I looked at the bucket today and the tabs are gone. Apparently dissolved. I dropped 2 more tabs in and came back in a couple of hours and they had dissolved. I am going to leave it out and see how long it takes to start growing green stuff. I may let it get good and nasty and drop some pills in and ...

PurCool Condensate Pan Tab Review

Condensate lines continue to be a recurring problem, especially down here in the south with the high humidity. The air is full of mold and biological spores, that ultimately winds up in the drain pan, and then the drain line. The water warms up in the trap and it is prime conditions for a biological...

Re: Flame Rectification

I knew that a flame would conduct electricity, but didn't or don't remember exactly why. It's interesting how the method of electronic flame rectification changed and why. I liked the old thermocouples. Very simple. A rod with 2 dissimilar wires wrapped around each other the generated a small electr...

Re: Contactor Chattering? We Can Fix That...

The series impedance from Snyder is goes into much more detail and explanation that the Franklin Electric bulletin. It also says this can be an intermittent problem due to vary conditions which it is. If I understand this correctly, they are suggesting controlling the main 3 pole contactor with a pi...
